Hi, my name is Ursula Segalla and I am very pleased to meet you! I run Proofing It! from our Tauranga-based home in New Zealand, where I have lived with my family for the past 10 years. We re-located from Somerset West in the beautiful Cape Province of South Africa, in 1999. Born in Zambia during 1961 while my parents owned significant farming operations, my initial education was provided through my mother’s home-schooling.

Five years of boarding school in South Africa from the age of ten, while my parents were still farming in Zambia, taught me the value of independence and the importance of maintaining it.

Through continued education I am well qualified with a Bachelor of Economics, an Honours Degree in Business & Administration and an MBA which I gained from the University of Stellenbosch Business School in 1987.

My career has provided me with experience in a number of industry sectors such as the retail industry, economic research, the property industry, financial investment and the IT industry. I have trained many people in a range of activities starting from basic customer care skills to learning how to operate sophisticated financial modeling software. I have been a property valuer, a shopping centre manager, an investment analyst, an IT network manager & support provider and a business analyst to mention but a few.

As the Editor of “Rode’s Retail Report” (1992-1997) and the Sub-Editor of “Building and Construction” (1989-1992), I gained valuable experience for the role I am now enjoying. My acute attention to detail was further refined as I prepared these publications on a quarterly basis; producing easy-to-read, error-free publications based on relatively complex information, from the first blank page to the final print version. This gave me a tremendous sense of pleasure and pride.

Throughout my varied career I have also become a skilled listener and communicator. I believe that trust and credibility can be established with clear friendly communication and most jobs are made substantially easier with great outcomes for all involved, whether they are clients or colleagues. Dedication to always delivering my best means putting in 110% to achieve the desired outcome.

Last but certainly not least, I love spending quality time with my teenage children Kate and Cole, and my husband John. I also love reading, walking, going to the movies, cooking and spending time with friends.
